Acctng Conferences & Financial Independence

Something to read and something to listen to this week…

Which Accounting Conference is Right for You?

Heather Kwitschau (who I, ironically, met at Intuit Connect 2 years ago) wrote a great blog post comparing Intuit Connect vs Scaling New Heights.

I’ve only ever been to Intuit Connect, so I appreciated reading the pros and cons of each conference. If you’ve never been to an accounting conference, I highly recommend it. Nothing beats being in-person to meet up with other real life humans doing the same thing as you.

Get your Personal Money in Order Before Jumping from Corporate

Financially, leaving my corporate life (and the corporate salary) was hard. I effectively cut our household income in half when I left that life.

Ben and I did a lot of planning and saving prior to my jumping-ship to ease the anxiety around the massive household pay cut.

My favorite podcast for people seeking financial independence, Choose FI, just did a great “start here” episode. You might like it.

Behind-the-scenes in my business this week:

I’m on vacation, again, this week. “Week 4” in my close process is the ideal vacation week…and it helps to be married to a fellow CPA who shares the same schedule.

ALSO!!! I’m wrapping up the final touches on turning my 10-day LinkedIn series that started this email list “Anatomy of a $200k, 1-employee, 15 hr/wk Accounting Firm” into an ebook. It should be ready to send out in the next week or two. I’ll send it out here first, so keep your eyes peeled.

Money back guarantee, if you get in there and don’t see the value. No questions asked.
