Great news.

You’re not alone.

I sent out that first email to this list and asked you to fill out a survey, and you so awesomely did (results shared below).

BUT - a cooler thing happened.

Some of you hit reply or DMed me on LinkedIn and told me about yourself.

I loved it.

As I read through the responses, I was immediately relieved and thought “Oh my gosh, I’m not alone. I’m not crazy. I’m not weird.” (okay, that last part might not be true, but aren’t we all?)

But I’m not alone. And neither are you.

I want you to have that feeling too, so I’m sharing some of the replies here for you to bask in the not-aloneness with me…

“As a husband and a father of a 2-year old, quality time with the family outweighs anything else.”

“I'm a mom, CPA, and solopreneur.”

“I am just a Dad who wants to be near his kids. “

“I’m a mother of three and have worked very part-time while raising my children in audit….doing my own thing is the only way for me to go. “

“My accounting society is still living in the "dark ages" overworked, underpaid, miserable. I cant listen to that message anymore….We want change, we want a different life, and we arent afraid to make it happen. its inspiring to be around that energy.”

“I’ve also always had the vision of a small number of relatively high value clients - so totally grateful for not feeling like I’m the only weird one out there lol.”

“Accounting is such a valuable skill set, and I have worked so hard to have the right experiences in my career that I am starting to ask myself, "Why can't I work 15 hours a week and have an awesome life?"”

So. Awesome.

PS - If you paid really close attention to the “Anatomy of a $200K, 1-employee, 15 hr/wk Accounting Firm” series on LinkedIn, you’ll remember that I don’t work on Wednesdays. So why am I sending this on a Wednesday? I decided it sounded more fun and less pressure for this email list to be a hobby instead of a profit endeavor. So thanks for hanging with me on my day off! (Writing this while I sit between my yoga mat and our 8-year-old reading Kid Spy as the sun and mountain air come through a nearby window. Trust me, this doesn’t feel like work.)
